Fine Art

My fine art photography is centered around conceptual, environmental portraiture. Having a theatrical background, my images often are often a large production that is written, financed, directed, and sometimes even acted out by me. I am often inspired by grand portraiture paintings, and photographers such as Cindy Sherman and Charlie White. In preparation of a project, I will often start with the “vibe” I am going for, often using a Pinterest board as a starting point. From there, I will prepare the technical aspects I will need: location scouting, lighting design, film, reaching out to a model, props, makeup, and costuming. I pay particular attention to color in my photographs, using it as if it were its own character. Through this process, my images aim to be a physical manifestation of an otherwise invisible aspect of society. Whether it be the pain of change, artificiality, or the loss of innocence, my projects have always been about the emotional aspects of being.
